Move your TPT products to Shopify

Updated October 15, 2026 · 7-minute read

Shopify can import products from a CSV file, so you don't have to retype hundreds of listings. Storeroom builds that file from your TPT store, in the column format of Shopify's current product template, set up for digital downloads.

1. Back up your store

Follow How to back up your TPT store. That saves your listings in Storeroom.

2. Download the Shopify CSV

  1. Open Storeroom › Export › Shopify.
  2. Under Options, choose:
    • Status after import: Draft (recommended) lets you review before anything goes live.
    • Collections from: Subject, Grade or Resource type.
    • Links to TPT in descriptions: keep them, or remove the links and keep the text.
    • Prices: keep TPT prices, or set them a little lower or higher.
  3. Press Download Shopify CSV. The file lands in Downloads › Storeroom › your-store.

What's in the file

3. Import into Shopify

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Products and click Import.
  2. Choose the Storeroom CSV and click Upload and preview.
  3. Check the preview, then click Import products. Shopify emails you when it's done; images can take a few minutes.
Shopify's import can't attach the downloadable files themselves. That's step 4.

4. Attach your product files

Shopify delivers digital files through an app. Shopify's own free app is called Digital Downloads:

  1. Install Digital Downloads from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Open a product, choose More actions › Add Digital Attachment, and upload the file. One file per product variant; zip several files together if needed (Shopify's help page).
  3. Repeat for each product. Tip: start with your best sellers.

When everything looks right, select the products and set them to Active.
